Western Illinois University has the most sensible final exam schedule I've ever seen. Finals are at or near the regular class time and almost always on the same day as the class regularly meets. No complicated schedule matrix that changes from one semester to the next.
Happily, I'm the first one in my department to be all done. By 9:50am on Tuesday it's all over but the grading.
Now, to write some exams. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Dr. Polley,
This is Joshua Franc. I had you last year in Economics at Bradley for my Intermediate Macroeconomics course. I was actually procrastinating from studying for my last final tomorrow in Labor Problems and I was wondering how you were doing. So, I jumped on your weblog, and read that you seem to be doing just fine at Western. I wanted to inform you that i learned and retained more from you economics class last year than any other class i have taken here at Bradley. I just wanted to say thank you and that i wish you well and I am glad to see things are going well for you. But for now it's back to studying for me. (glad to see that not all final schedules are a mess)
Take care,
Joshua Franc
I have to say, we've had that sort of a final exam schedule for years here at Indiana University Northwest. Classes are generally MW or TTH, with 75-minute classes, so classes start 90 minutes apart. Finals are at the same time as the class, on the same day, with MW classes starting on the hour having finals M one semester and W the next; same for TTh classes. It works really nicely.
Joshua,
Great to hear from you. Thanks for the kind words. Good luck on your final!
Don,
Your schedule and ours are very sensible. The other three places I have either taken finals or given them had those schedule grids that sometimes made your 9:00 Monday class have a final at 2:00 on Thursday or something equally non-intuitive. I like our way.
